Mainly private waters of a fishing/hunting club in Plainfield. And, a
couple of times in old strip mining pits south of Wilmington.

Many of the Cook Forest Preserve lakes are open to this type of craft.
Du Page Preserves allows them in a couple of lakes, but they're all
tangled up in permits, launch fees, etc., etc.. Not really worth it
unless you live nearby.

You technocrats are all the same. SONAR to catch a fish? WTF are you
fishing for a Gotland on battery power?!

what next, a video-capable towed ROV with an ultrasonic hetrodyne
soliton beams?

pick up a stick, sharpen it on a rock and harpoon your fish like a man.
Unless it's a smelt in which case you should just filter lake water
with your mouth.

generally you use a locator to "see" what's on the bottom and the depth,
not necessarily to "see" fish.

Being that my time is precious the locator mkaes the time spent fishing
more productive.

DAMN STRAIGHT !!! KERBLAM !!! Screw the Rattle Trap Rapalas ... use this
noisy fishing lure ---> Potassium Perchlorate and Dark Aluminum powder ---
can all be purchased on E-BAY !!! A 100 gram batch is about the biggest
batch you would want to mix at once, could get slightly messy if you should
run into some static 100 grams will definitely cause some injury but you
wont loose yer house, go any bigger, who knows what will happen. You can
always mix 100g patches then combine batches in a tube - outside. The
proper mix - 70 grams Potassium Perchlorate and 30 grams dark aluminum
powder --- static guard EVERYTHING within 3 feet of your mixing area.
Static guard the mixing bags, the scale, yer clothes, yer chair etc.

More usefull data http://www.i-hacked.com/content/view/14/48/

A 100gram ground burst will clear the grass for 2-3feet, dig a 6 inch deep
hole in packed dry clay/turf and will set off car alarms with the concussion
up to 300 yards away. Keep in mind air compresses, water dosent, so if you
tie a string on the "device" with a brick 2 feet down the string, using
waterproof cannon fuse, the blast underwater will travel a great
distance --- stunning anything and everything.... plus I hear it makes it
look like a depthcharge just went off. It will also wake up the local lake
warden, I beleive the fine in WI is $1500 for using an explosive fishing
lure.

I've also heard that dropping one of these devices in an open ICE FISHING
HOLE will produce rather dramatic effects also.

Ok, enough of my talk of illegal activities...

Kinda reminds me of a MAD cartoon that I saw as a youth...

* Guy is ice fishing...
* Guy seems to feel "something" is up...
* Guy looks down fishing hole...
* Guy runs away with panic'd look...
* Sub launched ballistic missile breaks thru ice...

Jaffee? was that his name?
